- Day1
Watamu → Tsavo East
Early-morning pick-up at your resort. We drive about 100 km of red-earth track through forest and villages to Sala Gate, arriving around 9:30. First stop: the Galana River and its crocodiles. Then the game drive begins — lions, Tsavo's famous red-dust elephants, buffalo, giraffe, zebra, dik-dik, antelope and, with some luck, cheetah and leopard. Around 1 pm we reach the lodge or tented camp for lunch and a rest, then head out again until sunset. Dinner, and after dinner the animals coming to drink at the waterhole in front of the lodge.
- Day2
Tsavo East → Watamu
Wake-up at 6, breakfast and off at 7. If you like, we visit a Maasai village: dances, the traditional houses (manyatta) and handicrafts. Then the third game drive, the best one thanks to the morning light. We stay in the park until about 10:30–11 (the park ticket is valid for 24 hours), then drive back to Watamu or Malindi.

Frequently asked questions
Can I do Tsavo East as a day trip?
On request, yes — with a very early start and a late return. But we recommend two days: one night in the park gives you both sunset and sunrise, the best moments to see big cats, and the journey feels much lighter.
How long is the drive from Watamu to Tsavo East?
About two and a half to three hours to Sala Gate, the entrance closest to the coast. Part of the road is red-earth track.
Which animals can you see in Tsavo East?
Elephant, lion, buffalo, giraffe, zebra, ostrich, antelope, dik-dik, crocodiles and hippos in the Galana River. Cheetah and leopard are rarer but regularly seen; the guide follows tracks and knows where to look.
