Gede Ruins
Gede is probably the most important archaeological site on the Kenyan coast: a Swahili town of coral stone, swallowed by the forest, a few minutes from Watamu.

The town is thought to date from the 13th century, though recent excavations push its origins back two centuries. At its height it covered twenty hectares and had at least eight mosques — yet it appears in no Swahili, Arab or Portuguese chronicle, and nobody knows for sure why it was abandoned.
You explore on foot among giant trees, with monkeys watching from above. It combines well with Marafa or Malindi.
