Half day
Malindi
Malindi is the coast's second-largest town and its busiest for tourism. It's one of Kenya's oldest ports and a good base for Gede, Marafa and Tsavo East.

Its golden age was the early 1500s, when it allied with the Portuguese against Mombasa. Today's town is mostly 19th-century, with few monuments but plenty of life: the market, the shops, the seafront.
We visit at an easy pace — handy for shopping with a local who knows fair prices. Often combined with Marafa or Gede.
